I have wanted a cork board in my cookie room forever, but never could find one that I liked...so, like any good wannabe crafter, I decided to make one!
The first thing I did was gather my supplies!
I raided my mom's house and found a framed picture, that while it was UGLY, I loved the size and the frame. I found some
cork foam board at Michael's (using a coupon) that worked wonderfully!
I used chalk paint on the frame and soft touch varnish for the finish on the frame. The color is Treasure from American Decor and the varnish is by them also!
I new I wanted to incorporate puzzles some how in the board, and my friend Melissa from
Simply Sweet Stencils, had a puzzle stencil that work perfect for this project! She sent me both the 2 inch and the 2.5 inch puzzle stencils...I chose to use the 2 inch on this project, deeming it forever a craft stencil, and saved the 2.5 inch one for cookies. I grabbed some colorful craft paints from my stash, and just randomly stenciled on puzzle pieces. Random patterns are hard for me...any one else like that?
Once I put it together and hung it in my cookie/craft room, I was in love! It was the perfect size, the perfect color and makes me smile!
I hung it above my work table and am working on turning that wall into a gallery wall of baking stuff, I will share it with you when I am done!
Until then.....
Hugs
What a fantastic transformation! I'm inspired. I'm going to keep an eye at thrift stores for a good frame.
