Party in Your PJs #27

Welcome to Party in Your PJs

So...I don't know about you, but the only thing I can think about is the World Series, as lifelong Kansas City Royals, we are so excited.  The Royals have not been in the World Series in 29 years, so this is huge for us.  Yes, the Giants kicked our butts this past weekend, and are leading the series 2-3, but we are back in Kansas City tonight...and I can not wait to see the Royal's Win tonight.  Call me a dreamer, but rooting for the underdog is just who I am.  If we win tonight, game seven is tomorrow night, if we loose, the Giants win the World Series, and we are done for the year. Win or Loose, I am still proud of my team, and will always be a True Blue Royal Fan.

So...have fun at the party...I will be watching the game!

Vintage Apron Curtains

Curtains are not really my "thing".  I don't have  knack for decorating AT ALL!  I don't like it, I don't dream about it or even try to make myself a better decorator.  So, to solve that problem, and make my house NOT look like a first time apartment.  I use the things that I have, and try to use them in creative ways.

Vintage Apron Curtains

I was lucky enough to be given several of my great-grandmother's aprons.  She died when I was young, but I do remember a little about her.  She always had an apron on, one that she made, and when I became an adult, ie responsible, my mom gave me several of her aprons.

In my old home, I had them displayed in a simple basket.  BUT...in our new home, I wanted to enjoy them more.  So, I used them as curtains in my new cookie/craft room.

When I first put these up, I hung a tension rod inside the window frame and tied the apron onto the rod....FAIL!  Well, I would not call it a total fail, it was just not the look I was going for.  So, I got out a hammer and nail, placed a nail into the window frame, tied a piece of twin between the two nails, and use some clothes pins to "hang" the apron.  Success!  I loved this look.

I have two windows in the room, so I chose bright and colorful aprons from my stash!  I still have several, but these were my favorites.

I topped one window with my Burlap Canvas Wall Art Puzzle Pieces, because..well, I am THE COOKIE PUZZLE..Duh!  I only made one set, and I am still deciding if I want to make another set, or do something else above the window.  I guess time will tell!

So...there you go...simple curtains or window treatment, that is totally free and holds great sentimental meaning.  If you are like me, and struggle with decorating, don't sweat it...just look around at what you love and what you have and make it work for you. It is YOUR home...do what you want, what you love, and your life will so much happier!

Welcome to Party in Your PJs

Can you believe October is almost over?  I mean, November is like 2 weeks away, and before you know it, it will be December, then you blink and it will be 2015. I really think that the older you get the faster time goes.  Am I the only one who feels like that?  Please tell me I am not a total weirdo!

10 DIY Rustic Headboards

Since we are almost finished building our new Rustic Home, it is time to start thinking about furniture.  We are wanting a new bed, since we did most of the work ourselves, Mr. Cookie Puzzle and I thought why not build a new Headboard for our Master Bedroom.

A quick search of the internet yielded me many choices to choose from.  From natural wood to painted shutters, from books to windows, from wood slices to corrugated tin, the choices are really endless.

We are not sure exactly what we are planning on doing, but these 10 headboards, give me plenty of inspiration.

Please feel free to Pin the collage image, but if you want to pin individual headboards, please go to the original blog.

I am in love with each and everyone of these, they are all so different, but in my opinion, they all have the rustic feel to them.

Have you ever made a headboard before?  Do you have any tips or tricks for me?  Should I pick out my bedding first and match the style I choose to that.  Or, do I make the headboard first?

Pieces of My Puzzle 10-19-14

Happy Sunday Friends!

Here it is, a month since my last Pieces of My Puzzle Post...sorry about that...you know..life and stuff.

So..what have I been up to...well...STILL working on our new house...they say it takes it least 30% longer then you expected...and we have found that to be true.  I feel like we have been "almost" done FOREVER...but there always seems to be something to do. We are working long hours, and we seem to be making progress...but when we go back, we find more to do.  So...we are still in our current house...and still working on our new house...busy time for sure!

Since the last time I posted this, my beloved Kansas City Royals, won the Wild Card game in a real nail biter.  Then they swept the Angles in the ALDS. THEN...we swept the Orioles in the ALCS...SOOO Royals are going to face the Giants in the World Series!!!!

We are so excited.  The Royals have not been in the World Series since 1985!!!! So we are way over due!

I have not watched a lot of TV, due to non stop baseball here...but I have managed to watch American Horror Story:Freak Show.  WOW...just wow!  Twisty the Clown....talk about creepy.  I will not spoil it for those of you that have not watched it yet..but I am loving this one so far.  So many turns and twists.  I am so surprised that I actually enjoy this show so much, am not a fan of scary horror shows at all.  But this show has me hooked, the story line just pulls you in, and you have no choice but to watch.

I wish I could tell you that I have been reading a lot, but sadly, I have not read a book in months.  I am looking forward to getting settled in our new house and reading the winter cold away!

Cooler weather has moved in, leaves are changing colors and falling, pumpkin anything has taken over Pinterest, yes friends, fall is upon us.  I love this time of year..the colors, the flavors, the cool crisp air, what is not to love!

So...that is that...what I have been up to..working on the house, collecting new and hold things to put it in and watching baseball.  What have you been up to?  Are you ready for the busy holiday season?

Don't forget, you still have time to link up at Party in Your PJs.  The party starts on Tuesday evenings at 7pm Central time, and it is an anything goes party!  Come join the fun and see all the wonderful creations all over blogland!

Party in Your PJs #25

Welcome to Party in Your PJs

Do you have all your fall decorations up yet?  I wish I could say that I did..but with us being in transition between our current house and our new house, no decorations are up.  I think when we do move, which will be soon, I will just jump right into Christmas decorations, heck, if the stores can do it, why can't I?

Anyway...let's get to the party shall we?

Chalk Paint Cabinet Makeover

Making over an old piece of furniture is easy when you use chalk paint.  I have become almost addicted to the stuff.  I have used a couple of store bought chalk paint and DIY chalk paint.  Both of them work beautifully and I find myself "searching" for stuff to paint.

This little cabinet belonged to my mom.  Her parents built a new house in 1962, and her grandmother
bought new furniture for my mom's room.  She picked out three pieces, a corner cabinet, a chest of drawers and this little cabinet.

I am not sure where the other two pieces are, but she gave me this little cabinet for my new cookie/craft room

We are experiencing colder weather here..I think we can officially say that Fall in HERE!  I love fall, it is my favorite season...the cooler weather, the beautiful colors and the food...oh the food..pumpkin, apples, spices and all those holiday cookies...oh  and the Halloween Candy.  Please tell me I am not the only one, who buys the candy you love the most, and pray for rain, so that you will not have many Trick or Treaters?  That is not weird is is?

Sewing Table Make-Over

Transforming an old piece of furniture with a DIY Chalk Paint is so much fun and to be honest, rather addicting!

Sewing Table Make-over with DIY Chalk Paint

I found this old sewing table in Mr. Cookie Puzzles shed.  I have no idea where it came from, or how long it has been there.  As soon as I saw it, I  knew I wanted it in my new Cookie/Craft Room.

It was pretty nasty and dirty.
