Pieces of My Puzzle 9-28-14

Happy Sunday!  I can not believe it has been so long since I have written a post like this...sorry, ya know life can get crazy sometimes.

Right now, I am in full Baseball mode.  My team, the Kansas City Royals clinched post season play for the first time in 29 years!  Yes, that is right, 29 years, the last time the Royals played in post season play, it was 1985!  In 1985, I was in 7th grade!  Please don't take the time to do the math to see how old I am!

So, I have been pretty much watching Baseball none stop every night, shocked that I have become one of THOSE people.  You know the ones, the ones that watch not only your favorite team, but watch other teams, because you know that team X needs to win and team Y needs to win, for your team to make the playoffs. Yep, that is me, Kim, the total baseball freak!

I have been able to watch a few other shows this week, as it was premier week for most shows.  The Big Bang Theory, is pretty much my favorite show on TV, so getting TWO new episodes pretty much made my day!  I was also able to catch Scandal, love it, and the new show How to Get Away with Murder...LOVE IT!

I have watch Survivor since it started, so that is in my line up to.  It started this week, so, no favorites yet, heck, I don't even know their names yet.  I am still trying to figure out how Exile Island works this year, it was different in the first episode, but I don't know if it was only for the FIRST episode, or this is the new normal...I guess I will have to stay tuned to see.

On the home front, things are wrapping up with the new house, and we have started moving a few things to the new house.  I have my cookie room all set up, except for my work table.  My dad gave me this beautiful rustic work bench, I love it, but it needs to be shortened so that I can work sitting down, it will then get a few coats of polyurethane and a top.  I am trying to decide if I should go with Plexiglas or real glass.  I need the surface to be smooth, but I am not sure which to go with.  I will be rolling cookies on then, well on my dough board, on the table, so I need it to be strong.  Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

And...the big news of the week is that I made decorated cookies for the first time in 5 months!  I was given the opportunity to do an order, and I simply could not turn it down.  I made 50 blue hearts, and I forgot how much I loved doing cookies, especially simple cookies.  I did have to put more effort into the planning of these cookies, because as I mentioned earlier, all my cookie stuff is at the new house, which has not oven, and I had to go there, try to remember what I needed to have to make cookies.  OMG...I forgot all the "stuff" you need to make cookies, mixer, measuring cups and spoons, bowls, spatulas, rolling pin, dough board, wax paper, cookie cutters, piping bags, cuplers, tips, bag ties, decorating tips, cookie bags, boxes, cake board, heat sealer.  DUDE...decorating cookies require a lot of STUFF!

While I am not ready to officially ready to start taking cookie orders again, it was nice to have this one order, to know that I still have what it takes to make cookies.  The one thing that I did take away from this order, is that I like simple cookies.  I no longer have the desire to make cookies that take days and days to make or 4-5 colors of icing, I just don't like those type of cookies.  I make cookies that are FOR EATING!  People like to eat my cookies....so...from now on, no more complicated cookies, because, let's be honest, complicated cookies take time, which is money, and at the end of they day, a complicated cookie will taste the same as a simple cookie.  Complicated cookies take more time...time is money..so why not just make a simple cookie?  Right?

So...what have you been up to?  Are you ready for fall.  Have you seen enough Pumpkin Stuff of Pinterest?  Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?  What about Thanksgiving..got plans yet?

Wait...am I getting way to ahead of myself?  I thought so..until I went shopping..it is holiday season all over!

Until next time...hugs and love!
